Public funding in Brazilian Therapeutic Communities between 2017 and 2020

Between 2017 and 2020, the CTs (Therapeutic Communities) – entities deprived of liberty for the treatment of people who make problematic drug use – received a total of BRL 560 million from the government. All this amount, which is added up between the federal, state and municipal spheres, tends to increase in the coming years. The approval of Complementary Law 187/2021, sanctioned by President Bolsonaro, gives the CTs the right to seek tax immunity, a kind of public funding. Analyzes are some of the decisions planned by Conectas Humano and Cebrap (Brazilian Center for Surveys and Surveys). Titled “Public funding of Brazilian therapeutic communities between 2017 and 2020”.
