South American event discusses climate change in the Amazon

Organized by CEDLA, the meeting also debates the socio-environmental changes that gold mining generates in the countries made up by Amazon

On Tuesday (14th of December), from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, the “Regional workshop: Amazon gold and the double climate discourse” will take place, promoted by CEDLA (Center for Studies on Work and Agrarian Development). To register for the event, which will be broadcast via zoom, access this link.

The event’s objective is to debate urgent issues about the Amazon, such as confronting climate change in the region, in addition to sharing knowledge about the territorial, economic and social transformations that gold mining is generating in the countries that make up the Amazon.

Julia Neiva, coordinator at Conectas on Social and Environmental Rights Defense program, is one of the participants. The live broadcast will be simultaneously translated into Portuguese.
