Report reveals challenges and resistance of indigenous peoples; participate in launch in SP

An event on protection strategies for the Uru Eu Wau Wau and Arara indigenous peoples will take place at Ocupação Nove de Julho next Tuesday the 19th of September 2023



Next Tuesday (19th of September 2023), Conectas Human Rights, Associação Etnoambiental Kanindé, Associação Jupaú, Instituto Maíra and Associação Kowit will launch the report “Lives in territories under pressure: Uru-Eu-Wau-Wau, Paiter Suruí and Arara people”. The meeting will be held at Ocupação Nove de Julho, starting at 5:30 pm, attendees can confirm their presence on this link. The event will be broadcast simultaneously on Conectas’ Instagram and YouTube.

The event is attended by indigenous people who report threats, resistance and protection strategies developed by the leaders of the Uru-Eu-Wau-Wau, Paiter Suruí and Arara people of the Cachoeira Seca TI in recent years, mainly between 2020-2022.

Participating in the meeting are Walela Soeikigh Paiter Bandeira Surui (Leader Paiter Suruí); Mborep Uru Eu Wau Wau (Uru-Eu-Wau-Wau Youth Leader); Mobu Odo Arara (chief of the Arara people of the Cachoeira Seca TI); and Timbektodem Arara (president of the Kowit Association – TI Cachoeira Seca). Furthermore, Ivaneide Bandeira (Neidinha Suruí) and Daniel Faggiano represent the indigenous organizations that daily support the work of resistance and territorial protection of indigenous leaders.
