On Tuesday (28), At the UN Human Rights Council, the organizations, Conectas Human Rights and Artigo 19 denounced misinformation promoted by public authorities, including by the president of the republic himself, Jair Bolsonaro, and the impact of this on elections and maintaining democracy in the country.

“Among the waves of misleading information that we see in Brazil is the questioning of the integrity of the Brazilian electoral system, including by public authorities and President Jair Bolsonaro himself”, he said.  “To question the electoral system is to attempt against its functioning and against the democratic state, in addition to dangerously encouraging actions against institutions”.

The speech was part of the “Panel on countering the negative impact of disinformation on the enjoyment and realisation of human rights”, during the 50th session of the Human Rights Council at the UN in Geneva, Switzerland.
