Opinion: Government uses legal measures to go against the Migration Law

Creating arbitrary hypotheses to bar people who may be seeking protection from war and political persecution is, at the very least, perverse

Last week, the second sitting of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) rejected a request for the extradition of the Turkish citizen Ali Sipahi, a naturalised citizen of Brazil, where he has lived for the past 12 years. Sipahi has been accused by the Turkish government of belonging to an organisation that is said to be involved with terrorism because it opposes the regime of President Erdogan. The ministers of the Supreme Court gave a unanimous message – legality and the Constitution prevail in defending the right to migrate.
