Read the opinion article by Fernanda Drummond, advisor for the Defense of Social and Environmental Rights program, and Júlia Neiva, coordinator of the Defense of Social and Environmental Rights program, both at Conectas. Published in the newspaper El País, the text addresses the withdrawal of labor rights through the “modernization”, “flexibility” and “cost reduction” proposals of the Jair Bolsonaro´s government, such as MP (Provisional Measure) 1045/2021 that attacks and reduces labor rights.
“There is no doubt that the scenario of slave-like labor tends to worsen with the approval of this provisional measure, which implies that, more workers will be recruited, fewer cases will be discovered, and fewer penalties imposed”, says Drummond and Neiva.
