The history of the Colloquium is intertwined with the very foundation of Conectas. Held since 2001, the main objective of the event is to bring together human rights activists and organisations from the Global South to share experiences and knowledge.
From 2015, the Colloquium was held every two years, and, in its last edition in October 2017, it was attended by 80 people from 31 countries.
Over the years, the Colloquium has brought together more than 1,500 participants from 80 countries and has become one of the largest and most established human rights assembly in the world. With a motto of diversity, the event is a symbol of the strengthening of the fight for human rights worldwide, in pursuit of a more dignified, just and equal society.
