Conectas Human Rights has opened the call for contributions for the 32nd edition of Sur – International Journal on Human Rights, to be published in December 2022. The theme will be “Possible futures: is there a new normal?” Contributions must be submitted before 2 October 2022.

The journal is accepting contributions in the form of articles, essays, case studies, institutional reflections and works of art that present a deep reflection on the conditions that the current geopolitical situation bring to the promotion and defence of human rights and to the organisations in their different areas of activity.

As well as elaborating on the post-pandemic landscape of political tension, economic uncertainty and changing power paradigms, this edition is also focused on looking into the challenges facing human rights organisations and bringing to the debate the ways in which possible futures are being envisaged and constructed within the new normal.

Sur Journal expects, therefore, to receive contributions that discuss the following sub-texts and their respective questioning:

  1. New configurations of global power
  2. Structural challenges for NGOs
  3. Technology, misinformation and democratic processes
