In an open letter to world leaders, more than 65 civil society organizations all over the world ask for the creation of new environmental policies based on human rights.

In the letter, the signatory organizations, including Conectas, state that groups that have been marginalized are the most affected by environmental destruction and also mentioned that public environmental policies that did not include this reality causes further harm to these groups than good.

“It is unforgivable that polluting industries makes money at the expense of the health and human rights of marginalized communities,” the document states. Therefore, the letter calls for the prompt response on centralizing human rights by proposing new environmental proposals, so that “the coming generations can prosper while living in harmony with nature”.
