Conectas receives Best NGOs award

The award granted by the Instituto Doar is held annually and aims to recognize organizations that serve as a reference and inspiration for the sector

Conectas Human Rights has been classified as one of the one hundred best non-governmental organizations in Brazil. The list of the “Best NGOs Award”, available at this link, was released on Friday, November 27, by the Instituto Doar and by the organizations Ambev Voa and O Mundo que Queremos.

The award ceremony will occur on December 10, at 8 pm, and be held virtually on account of the pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus. The event will also announce the winning organizations of the special awards in the categories “Region”, “Topic” and “Best of the Year”.

“We are very pleased with this recognition, especially in a year as difficult and challenging as this one. However, none of Conectas’ achievements are ours alone. Networking is in our DNA, and our partners as just as dedicated and committed as we are to protecting and fighting for what is most important and fundamental in people’s lives, especially the lives of the most vulnerable groups,” said Juana Kweitel, executive director of Conectas.

According to the organizers of the event, this year 670 organizations registered and competed for the award. The methodology for choosing the selected organizations was applied by researchers from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation in São Paulo (FGV-SP) and included a list of questions to assess their transparency and management. The topics covered in the selection criteria were: Cause and Working Strategy, Representation and Responsibility, Management and Planning, Financing Strategy, and Communication and Accountability.

Best NGOs award

The “Best NGOs Award” is an initiative staged annually to acknowledge non-governmental organizations that are a reference and an inspiration for society and for other NGOs. According to the organizers, the “mission is to recognize and promote NGOs from Brazil that stand out the most each year for their excellence in management, governance, financial sustainability and transparency”.

Announced in association with Giving Tuesday, on December 1, the award aims to encourage people to donate time and money to distinguished organizations in the third sector.
