Sao Paulo, Brazil – November and December, 2010 year IV nº 22

FOREIGN POLICY Participants in the event held in São Paulo, between November 17 and 19 RIADIS and Conectas organize the meeting "UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities" The meeting, organized between November 17 and 19 in São Paulo, was attended by 40 participants and discussed the role of civil society in the implementation of mechanisms to guarantee the rights of people with disabilities, as provided for in article 33 of the convention. The group is preparing to draft an alternative report to the one prepared by the Brazilian government on the rights of people with disabilities. This document is intended to identify the challenges of guaranteeing these rights and should be delivered to the UN in 2011. Clique here to see the photo album for the event

SUR JOURNAL Printed and online versions of issue 11 already available In collaboration with ESCR-Net, this issue of Sur Journal presents articles that form a dossier on the challenges faced by organizations and social movements, and on their main strategies and recommendations for future action. This issue also contains an article by the Argentine lawyer Víctor Abramovich, who presents an overview of strategic discussions on the role of the Inter-American Human Rights System on the region’s political scene.
