At the time that Brazil approves its Truth Commission, Sur Journal issue 13 includes two articles, both dealing with the topic of transitional justice in post-dictatorship Latin America. The first one – “Between Reparations, Half Truths and Impunity: The Difficult Break with the Legacy of the Dictatorship in Brazil”, by Glenda Mezzaroba - focuses on Brazil, analyzing the process developed by the Brazilian State for making amends with victims of the dictatorship and with society. The second article, by written by Gerardo Alberto Arce Arce, (“Armed Forces, Truth Commission and Transitional Justice in Peru”) deals with the Peruvian case, discussing the process of establishing a Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Peru.
