Publication and distribution

By the end of 2010, 12 issues of the Sur Journal had been published, containing 95 articles, 70% written by authors from the Global South. In 2011, the partner organization Partners in Development for Research, Consulting and Training (Egypt) published a special edition in Arabic.

• Free distribution to 2,061 subscribers in over 100 countries, 70% of the Southern Hemisphere 
• 2,700 copies per issue.

Results of research conducted with readers

2009

• Frequent readers access to the version on the Internet: 80%. 
• Most readers prefer the printed edition: 76%. 
• In general, each copy is used by more than one player: 65% of subscribers are organizations or public libraries.

2007

• 66% of readers consider the magazine an excellent. 
• 34% were judged as good. 
• 36.8% are university professors. 
• 31.2% work in NGOs. 
• Use the magazine mainly for educational purposes
