Google incorporates Conectas’ Sur Journal in its academic index

Search engine used by researchers around the world will feature the Brazilian publication’s content

March 14, 2012

Sur Journal, created eight years ago by Conectas to encourage production and debate on human rights among academics and activists around the world, was included in three languages (Portuguese, English and Spanish) in Google Scholar, a version of the world’s most used search engine for researchers that currently features the most important titles in various fields of knowledge.

Using Google Scholar, the reader can access the full text of the articles published in
Conectas’ journal and also citations from these articles contained in other academic papers.

“We believe in freedom of thought and in sharing ideas. This is why the journal adopts a copyright policy that permits reproduction of the published texts,” said Thiago Amparo, Coordinator of Research and Training at Conectas and member of the Executive Board of the journal. Conectas hopes that the presence of Sur in Google Scholar will facilitate the dissemination of the published articles and strengthen the debate on human rights in the Global South.
