Carried out in association with Geledés
- Instituto da Mulher Negra and financed
by the European Union, this project
aims at the capacity-building of women
in districts of eastern São Paulo
in the defense of their right to health,
with the objective of strengthening
the combat against racial discrimination
in health services in Brazil.
After the capacity-building, the group
will be able to closely follow public
health services, including what they
proclaim about specific needs of these
women. The project's activities, which
began in April of 2007 with the production
of materials for capacity-building workshops,
are expected to span three years.
As it is a pilot program, it will
result in the systematization of its
methodology, creating a model for oversight
of health services that can be replicated
in other cities and regions of the country.
